Photo of an unusual four-storied "Bhelleghar" constructed by villagers at Lathapara, near Naamkhola in Darrang district which had attracted large number of people for a few days till January 15.

Firstly I want to thanks the villagers of Lathapara and the young boy who created this Bhelaghar. I appreciate you that this is a nice work. I live in guwahati in concrit jungle but i am a lover of Meji. I create in this year Meji and Bhelaghar with my friends. In our locality there have no sufficient bamboo. I hope please you will create this type of Bhelaghar. Thanks

Two stray Orang NP tigers saved

A tiger from Orang National Park strayed out of the park through southern boundaryon the night of October 10. After crossing Brahmaputra it had reached Hama Char area and killed two cows and two buffaloes there. Eco Development Committees for Orang National Park formed

In a bid to garner fringe villagers' goodwill and cooperation, the authorities of Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park have formed 11 Eco Development Committees (EDCs) from amongst the peripheral villages. Thus 11 villages have been covered for EDC formation during 2009-10 through this first of its kind concept in the National Park.
