Photo of an unusual four-storied "Bhelleghar" constructed by villagers at Lathapara, near Naamkhola in Darrang district which had attracted large number of people for a few days till January 15.

Firstly I want to thanks the villagers of Lathapara and the young boy who created this Bhelaghar. I appreciate you that this is a nice work. I live in guwahati in concrit jungle but i am a lover of Meji. I create in this year Meji and Bhelaghar with my friends. In our locality there have no sufficient bamboo. I hope please you will create this type of Bhelaghar. Thanks

It is a very very appreciable work of the villagers who make this Bhelaghar on Bhogali Bihu.

Wild tusker kills 1 more in Udalguri

One Surya Gauria (45) has been trampled by a loner wild tusker at Dangalbasti near No.2 Ghagra (Hatigarh) on today afternoon at 4 pm while trying to chase away the wild tusker. It needs mention that wild elephants have so far killed 16 person and injured many more in Udalguri district during this year.Elephants on the Line and Green Valley Forest and Wildlife Protection Society of the district appeal government to take early preventing measures so as to minimize casuality of both man and elephant. Man-elephant conflict has taken serious turn in Udalguri district following deaths of four more persons at Coramore near India-Bhutan border last night on July 14. Child scientists shine in science competition

Child scientists of Kalaigaon block have won five out of six awards in the district level science based competition held at Udalguri HSS on May 29. The competition was organized by Udalguri district administration under the aegis of Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC). Wild elephant kills SSB jawan in Udalguri

One Pramod Kumar Singh jawan of BOP (Border Out Post),SSB, Nalapara in Udalguri district has been killed by wild elephants at 10 am today at Nalapara,under Harisinga police station. He along with others were on patrolling duty while attacked by a wild elephant.He died on the spot. He is an inhabitant of Katihar (Bihar) and had joined SSB in 2007.
