Two hardcore ULFA rebels were killed at an encounter with security forces in Assam on Sunday wee hours. The encounter took place at Khetri in the oitskirt of the city of Guwahati where securuty forces claimed to have seized a huge cache of explosives and weapons from the spot.
According to informaiton, a joint team of police and securuity focrces conducted an operation acting on a tip off that a three-member group of ULFA rebels was hiding in the area. The encounter lasted for nearly 30 minutes where the ULFA rebels died on the spot. One of the rebels, however, managed to flee from the spot. The deceased have yet to be identified.

In protest against this and the inaction from the authorities a lot of local people blocked NH 37 at Lepetkota, Sesa Tiniali, Kotoha in Dibrugarh District. Burapahar: Some unknown miscreants have hijacked a bus at Burapahar in Assam. The miscreants hijacked the bus at gun point from the Burapahar area in the National Highway 37. GUWAHATI, July 20: A powerful bomb exploded in Srirampur Chariali under Tamarhat police station in Kokrajhar district on Friday killing 4 people and seriously injuring 18 others.The bomb was kept on a bicycle which was kept in front of a shop near the ASTC counter.Two people died on the spot and eight sustained serious injuries. GUWAHATI : The Army on Thursday killed two ULFA militants in Tinsukia district, about 500 kms from Guwahati.
