Zubeen Garg performed at Navi Mumbai

Shreemoyee Asomiya Mahila Samiti (SAMS) organized ‘Zubeen nite’ at Bunt’s Centre, Navi Mumbai on Novembver 28. The event was inaugurated by the chief guests, The Chief Adviser of SAMS & Deputy Resident Commissioner of Assam Bhawan Sri Debasish Sharma, Sri Abani Das, Dr. Tapan Saikia & Sri Shyama Prasad Borthakur , the vice president of Assam Association Mumbai, by lighting the lamp.



Mrs Nibedita hazarika (gen secretary,SAMS) started the evening with the welcome speech and informed the people the cause of the event. The money raised from this event will be spent for the welfare of the society specially for underprivileged women and children. Zubeen Garg, the famous bollywood playback singer and music director of Assam has always taken part in these kind of charity programmes.



Zubeen Garg recently won the 55th National award for best music director for the film ‘Echoes of silence’. He was felicitated by Mrs.Bina Saikia( President, SAMS) with a ‘gamucha’ and a bauquet.



The anchoring for the event was done by famous Assamese actress and dancer Mrs. Barsha rani bishoya.She was felicitated by SAMS joint secretary Mrs. Indrani Borpujari with a bauquet.About 25 cancer patients staying at Assam Bhawan were invited by SAMS to the programme.
Zubeen’s performance was rocking and touched the heart of all the audience.



Along with Zubeen’s performance , there was a dance performance ‘Mangalacharan’ by Kumari Bhavya , Comedy programme by famous Mr. Narendra Bhansali and songs by Miss Prarthana Chowdhry. Both of them were felicitated by Mrs Krishna khaund and Mrs Anjana Saikia.
The members of SAMS worked really hard for making this event successful. It was a great team work and SAMS is planning to organize more charity shows in the future.

Properties worth crores of rupee were reduced to ashes as a devastating fire broke out at the Guwahati refinery in Noonmati on Sunday. The incident took pace at around 2-40 in the afternoon at an OICL owned sulfer recovery unit and the fire was rapidly spreading to create panic among the workers who came out of their work places. Two ULFA suspected ULFA rebels were at a joint operation by police and army in Kamrup district on Saturday. The incident took place on Saturday wee hours when Boko police and army’s Kumaon regiment were on a joint operation. The deceased were yet to be identified but police claimed to have recovered from the a 9 mm pistol, one Chinese pistpl, one Chinese grenade, one Kilo explosive, 5 kgs of RDX, currencies of India and Bangladesh, 30 billets and 2 magazines. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is flying down to Haflong on Saturday a day after he chaired the unified command meet in Dispur and discussed the modalities of the peace process in the trouble torn district. . Accompanied by director general of police Shankar Baruah, the Chief Minister helding talk with top ranked police and civil officers and took stock of the situation prevailing in the hills district. Gogoi will present the facts and figures before the Centre as he would be talking to Union home minister P Chidambaram in Delhi on Tuesday. Nearly 100 persons were killed more than 200 injured in an orgy of incidents of violence during the last three months.
A special court has remanded Putul Gogoi to five days CBI custody a day after the notorious crude oil thief was arrested in Guwahati. Gogoi, who was also called a kingpin in the nefarious fake note racket, was produced before the CBI special court on Thursday where he was remanded to 5 days judicial custody. Details are awaited.
A former MP from Bihar lands in legal trouble as he approached the Gauhati High Court against Assam halth minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. A division bench of Gauhati High Court has rejected writ petition filed by Bihar's former MP Sukhdeo Paswan who said that his public interest litigation for reopening TADA cases against the minister Sarma should be reopened. In a sudden move, Paswan filed the writ petition on Wednesday seeking withdrawal of the PIL. The court, however, denied it and instead asked him to file an affidavit by September 3 justifying his latest move.
A blueprint of a major NDFB strike was averted when Assam Rifles recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Assam’s Sonitpur district of Assam on Thursday morning. According to information, the arms and ammunitions belonged NDFB’s third battalion which were kept inside a trunk and was recovered by 44 and 46th Asam Rifles jawans at Ghoamara Dhekidol in Sonitpur district. Two ULFA cadres were killed at an encounter with police and army in Bagsa distict of Assam on Wednesday midnight. According to information, the encounter took ppace at Gulabeel area at around 2 in the husday wee hous as police and army were launching a joint operation in the area acting on a specific information that two ULFA cades were hiding in the area. Police later, recovered a grenade, an AK-56 rifle and a pistol from the ULFA cadres. One of the deceased was identified as Samir Nath. Details are awaited.

Flood waters refuse to recede in Assam on Tuesday. The situation is taking a grim turn where half the area of the Karizanga National Park was submerged by the surging waters of the Brahmaputra, forcing exodus of animals to safer places.
