Barpeta District administration ready for Civic Poll
Barpeta district administration is getting ready for the ensuing Civic poll. To give the information of the preparation and maintaining of the civic poll smoothly Barpeta district administration held a press meet here at Barpeta DC's conference Hall. In the meet the DC Barpeta, Phanidhar Kalita come to know the reporters that under Barpeta sadar subdivision there are 10 seats in Barpeta Road municipality and 24 polling centres, 4 seats in Sarthebari- Sarbhog Town committee and 7 polling centres and 4 seats in Howly Town Committee and 9 polling centres. The DC also come to know that all total candidates for Barpeta Road Civic poll, among those 16 are female. On the other hand, at Sarthebari town committee there are 20 candidates, among those 9 are female. Likewise, at Howly town committee there are 11 candidates, among those 5 are female. and at sarbhog Town committee there are 21 candidates, among those 11 are femaqle. Under Barpeta subdivision all total 260 polling officers will be appointed for civic poll. Moreover, for Barpeta Road civic poll Pramod Deka, ADC; for Howly Town committee P.K. Bhagawati, ADC; for Sarbhog Town Committee civic poll Debeswar Bora, CO, Barnagar Revenue Circle; for Sarthebari Town Committee Civic poll Debajit Khanikar, CO, Sarthebari; and for Pathsala Town Committee Abhijit Sinha, Additional Asstt Commissioner, Bajali are given responsibility to maintain the civic poll properly. All total 14 cells opened taking election, balot paper , communication etc cells. To observe the civic poll the election officer of Barpeta is appointed.

A dead body of a driver of Nalbari reserve police was found at Bardhantuli no. 5 Batasila gaon Panchayat under Nalbari police station in Barpeta district this morining. The dead body was identified as Najrul ali of Bardhantuli village in Nalbari district. Barpeta district CPI(ML) today observed jail-bhoro programme protesting against the skyrocketing price hike and the continuous corruption in implementing the various NREGA schemes of the entire district. The district unit took out a procession with slogan against the governments towards the deputy commissioner's office and in front of Deputy commissioner's office they staged demonstration. The urged the government for controlling the skyrocketing price hike which has made the lives of the general people measurable. On the other hand the corruption in NREGA schemes also harassed the people depriving the proper persons.

The sudden price hike of the essential commodities has made the life of the general people miserable. The state government has completely failed to control the price hike. Barpeta district AGP has taken out a protest march on September 14 and later on staged demonstration at the DC office premises. The organisation also submitted a memorandum to the DC Barpeta to take appropriate measures on the sudden price hike of the essential commodities.
Barpeta district Gramin Dak Sevak union today staged two-hours-long demonstration at Barpeta post office premises demanding to submit the report of 6th pay commission. Mentionable that about 3 lakh Gramin Dak Sevak have been serving in a nomial rate year after year. The death anniversary of Mahapurush Sri Sri Madhabdeva was observed at Barpeta Satra (Assamese monastery) by conducting a traditional Kirtan Mahotsava. Kirtans are devotional songs sang in the local language.
