Bajali sub-division women cell formed

The chairperson, Assam State commission for women, Mridula Sahariya visited Bajali sub-division recently to attend in a discussion meet about various legal matters, women empowerment and to bring awareness regarding pollution free environment. In this meeting a Bajali sub-division women cell was formed taking 10 members with Deepak Kr. Choudhury, SDO, (civil), Bajali as chairman and Puspanjali Das, ACS, CO, Bajali Revenue Circle as member. The meeting also discussed about the dowry death, and women harassment problems by the male folk of the society.

The situation in and around Bahari in Barpeta continues to remain tense for the consecutive four days even as a BJP called twelve hour Barpeta district bandh on Wednesday. Though the bandh was by and large peaceful, situation in Chenga in the district went almost out of control before noon and police had to fire several rounds of bullets and teargas shells in the air to disperse the bandh supporters.
