FIR registered against two judicial employees at Barpeta

The corruption of two officers of Barpeta district and Xatra judicial office came to light. According to reports, Ganapati Talukdar, Chirastadar, Barpeta District and Xatra Judicial office and his assistant Sukur Ali called the chowkidar Jitu Sarma to open the office on January 31 at 9.30 which was a holiday (Me-dam-Me-Phi). Later on both opened took the documents of seven files of motor accident case (MAC case no 286/07, 53/08, 734/08, 356/08, 432/07, 298/08, 618/08) related to a accident case. Surprisingly, on that very day both of them had taken these documents to the residenceof then District and Xatra judge D. K. Dev Roy and had taken signature in some of the important papers. On the same day they also tempered some papers.

When Guwahati High Court came to know about this incident through some source, then then judge (civil) and i/c District and Xatra Jugde P. Saikia was ordered to enquire the matter. Based on the enquiry report Guwahati high court ordered on April 21 and Barpeta district and Xatra Judge L.C.Dey filed an FIR against the duo on June 4. Barpeta sadar police station registered a FIR (no-538/09, IPC-448/420/468/34 CrPc). Since then, the two accused persons were not caught till now. There may be some other corruption in the judiciary, which will yet to be focused, sources said.

Barpeta Anchalik AASU remembered the martyrs

On the eve of 15 August, Barpeta anchalik AASU remembered the martyrs of Assam movement with the lightening of the lamp of 855 earthen lamps at Barpeta Panch-Ali Chowk on Sunday. Dead body of the servant recovered

A dead body of a girl servant namely Krishna Medhi was recovered in a pond at Gandhi Nagar area at Barpeta town on Sunday night. According to report, Krishna Medhi was the servant at one Dwijen Das residence, workers of LIC, Barpeta branch of Barpeta Gandhinagar. Mentionable that the dead Krishna Medhi had been worked as a servant somany years at the house of Dwijen Das. The local people of the area found her dead and rushed to the sadar police station of Barpeta. The local people and Krishna’s family members wanted to say it as a murder. The police caught Dwijen das, for interrogation. But there was no case filed till filing this report.

4 killed in Barpeta police firing
