KADAM TOLE ADAM KRIHA NACHE wins the Rajat Kamal award

New Delhi: In a day when a series of blasts have rocked the two main cities of Assam- Jorhat and Guwahati, finally there is some good news. The 53rd National Film Awards have been announced today and the Assamese film KADAM TOLE KRISHNA NACHE by Suman Harapriya has been declared the best film in regional languages. The Award carries a Rajat Kamal and a cash award of Rs 50,000 with a plaque. The other notable achievement is that Actor Anupam Kher has won the Special Jury Award for his role in the film 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara” which has again been directed by a famous by Assamese Director, Jahnu Barua. The other noteworthy winners from Northeast are -1) Best Feature Film in each of the languages other than those specified in Schedule VIII of the Constitution The best feature film in Monpa has been given to “Sonam “which has been directed by Ahsan Muzid. The award was given for picturesque and effective portrayal of contemporary tribal life.

2) The Award for the best Anthropological/ Ethnographic Film is “Spirit of the Graceful Lineage ” (English)
which has been produced Bibi Devi Barbarooah and directed by Prerana Barbarooah Sharma. It is an interesting documentation of the unique matrilineal society of the Khasis of Meghalaya.

3) Special mention has been made of Bidyut Kotoky, Director of the film “Bhraimoman Theatre” for its fascinating picture of a cultural sub-world of
Assam, capturing true life.

A Guwahati based organization takes on Chief minister and APSC alleging bribe in the examination held to select the candidates for ACS, APS and allied services. The officials of the Peoples'Welfare Forum lodged an FIR at Basistha police station against chief minister Tarun Gogoi and APSC chairman Rakesh Paul charging the duo to have taken bribe from a section of candidates to ensure their success in the competitive examination. Gogoi on Friday said that RTI is available to get the doubts cleared. The organization staged dharna in front of APSC office premises on Saturday raising bribery allegations.
