There is no sufficient doctor and staff at 200 bedded Sivasagar Civil Hospital. The hospital, situated at Joysagar, is the main hospital of the District and hundreds of people come daily for treatment. There is only one radiologist in the hospital and it is impossible for him to provide 24-hours service. So, patients have to go to private laboratories. Shortage of doctors, nurses and other staff is another big problem here.
Peoples of the district have been demanding appointment of required numbers of doctors, nurses and other staff immediately.

Veteran Congress leader in Nazira Tonkeshwar Saikia breath his last at his own residence of Nazira Simaluguri on Thursday. He was 81 and survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. Saikia, the elder brother of former Assam chief minister Hiteswar Saikia died of prolonged illness. Many political leaders, organizations and individuals have deeply condoled his death. But it is regret to say that due to the negligence of the teachers of the 310 No Molagaon government L.P. The 68th Republic Day observed in different places of Nazira Sub division.
