Mid April the major festival of composite Assamese society the Rongali Bihu begins, this also brings exuberance to the youths even to the aged and kids. As Assam and the Assamese people are gearing up with the preparation of Bihu; UB Photos – a premier news photo agency of North East India came out with full length commercial Bihu Video CD “Jaan Oi Zowan Doi” to be part of this gala celebration this year. The artists and producers released the VCD yesterday in a ceremony in UB Photos premises.
Speaking on the sidelines of the release Chief Photo Editor and Proprietor UB Photos Utpal Baruah outlined how and why UB Photos conceptualized on making of a Video Cd though it was a established name in still photography. Baruah reasoned that with visual media and editing set up being established in UB Photos; we tried to give a click with all freshmen in the technical setup. Directed by young director Kumar Sanjay Sarkar and freshman cameraperson Utpal Kalita the VCD is of standard quality. Most of composition through out the VCD has been given a second thought that is how the entire film becomes a good watching stuff. The fresh visual editor of UB Photos Pranab Bhuyan have done a wonderful job as well with sequence order, sound mixing and other editing activities. The entire UB Photos team has worked heart and soul to present a fabulous gift to the people of Assam this Rongali Bihu.
“Jan Oi Zowan Doi” has cast Kapil Borah as Jugal and Ratul Das as Pranab both ambitious village boys who come to Guwahati city to full fill their dreams. But they do not find any suitable employer or even a house to live in. In dilemma they lie and occupy a good accommodation in LP’s (Siddharta Mukherjee) house as tenants. It is worth mentioning that songs have been sung by gen-X singer Zubeen Garg, Bollywood heartthrob Sonu Nigam, Jitul Sonuwal, Saswati Phukan and Sandhya Menon.
Actor Kapil Borah, Nishita Goswami, Sidhartha Mukherjee and the entire cast also spoke at length on their experience working with the UB Photos film unit. Produced by UB Photos the VCD has been supported by grassland, Reliance Mobile and co- produced by CEC Educational Group and Master (India) Brewing Company. The executive producer is Vinod Kumar Jain. During the release ceremony Dipankar Dutta, President CEC praised the efforts of all members of UB Photos and the film unit for their untiring effort behind the VCD. He expressed his desire to support and promote any group who is ready to come up with such commercial projects. A member of UB Photos termed it as leaning experience. Sixty five per cent voters exercised their franchise in the 14 polling stations in three Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam which went for repoll on Sunda. The repolling which began at 7 in the morning and ended peacefully at 4 in the afternoon. Repoll was held in 14 polling stations - Kokrajhar parliamentary constituency (9), Mangaldoi (4) and Jorhat (1) following complaints of anomalies during polling in the second phase on April 23 last.
Several persons feared injured at a heavy exchange of firing between police and DHD(J) rebels in North Cachar hills district on Sunday evening. According to information, the encounter is underway at at Madaodisa basti behind Binoy Cement Company under Umrangsu police station.The encounter is taking place nearly seven hours after 3 railway protection force jawans sustained injury when DHD(J) rebels targeted a train. The incident took place at around 1 in the afternoon when armed rebels attacked a train in which the RPF personnel were traveling in with firing in between Mahur and Maidringdisa. The injured jawans have been rushed to the hospital.
A mild tremor jolted Assam and its neighbouring states on Saturday evening. The jot was felt at around 8-03 in the evening when the panic-stricken people in Guwahati came out to the streets. The epi centre and magnitude of the quake have yet to be be learnt. However, there is no report of any loss of life and property in the earthquake.

Three persons were killed when NDFB (Daimary) rebels ambushed the convoy of Kokrajhar MP and BPF candidate Sansuma Khungur Bwiswmuthiary in the district on Friday. Mr. Bwiswmuthiary, however, had a narrow escape.Bwiswmuthiary, along with journalists and BTC heavyweights were ambushed by the rebels from hills on both sides of the road near Panbari in the district as they were on the way to Bogoribari where the rebels set on fire several houses. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi says BJP, AGP and AUDF have been unitedly trying to stymie the Congress poll prospect. Two persons died in two separate incidents of violence as Assam was going to the second last and phase of polling on Thursday.In the first one incident, some unidentified miscreants killed Assam United Democratic Front leader of Goalpara district Ganesh Hazarika at a place under Mornoi police station in Dhubri. Five persons of the same family were trampled to death by wild tuskers in Dhubri district on Thursday night. According to information, the incident took place at Bansali gaon under Mancachar Police station at around 10-30 midnight when two wild tuskers who came from the deep jungles in Meghalaya and attacked the family members of Samsul Haque after damaging their house. Haque, his wife Kahinoor Begum, three daughters namely Saleha, Anna and Sienna died on the spot.
