Parliamentary standing committee visits flood eroded area in Barpeta district

A parliamentary standing committee team consisting of 9 people including MPs both Loksabha and Rajyasabha visited flood eroded area of Bahari area of Barpeta District recently. The team after visiting the area said to news persons that to solve such a problem only 6 or 7 crore amount is not sufficient.For it a huge amount of money is needed.These team were also shown slides about the errosion of the mighty river Bramhaputra by the chief engineer of the Water Resource Dept.In this team R.Sambasiva Rao,MP,Chairman of the standing committee; Shankhlal Majhi, MP; Harilal M. Patel, MP; Arun Kr. Sarmah, MP; Kumar Deepak Das, MP (Rajya Sabha); Sanjeev Sarma, Deputy Secy.; Sushil Kumar, Senior private Secy.; A.K.Ydav,Committee officer; Nitin Gupta,Liaison officer etc came. Along with them Phanidhar Kalita, DC Barpeta also visited Bahari floos erroted area. The standing committee members will report about this flood errosion problem of Bahari area in the central govt.Mentionable that so many villages of that area eroded by the mighty river Bramhaputra and hundreds of people became homeless time to time.

Barpeta Anchalik AASU remembered the martyrs

On the eve of 15 August, Barpeta anchalik AASU remembered the martyrs of Assam movement with the lightening of the lamp of 855 earthen lamps at Barpeta Panch-Ali Chowk on Sunday. After the 25 years of Assam accord barpeta district AASU remembered these martyrs. This programme was inaugurated by Jagannath das, and Satya Krishna Misra, of Barpeta. Dead body of the servant recovered

A dead body of a girl servant namely Krishna Medhi was recovered in a pond at Gandhi Nagar area at Barpeta town on Sunday night. According to report, Krishna Medhi was the servant at one Dwijen Das residence, workers of LIC, Barpeta branch of Barpeta Gandhinagar. Mentionable that the dead Krishna Medhi had been worked as a servant somany years at the house of Dwijen Das. The local people of the area found her dead and rushed to the sadar police station of Barpeta. The local people and Krishna’s family members wanted to say it as a murder. The police caught Dwijen das, for interrogation. But there was no case filed till filing this report.

4 killed in Barpeta police firing

Four people died and over 50 others have been injured when police opened fire on a group of student protesters trying to stall government proceedings of updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Barpeta on Wednesday.
