Shameful arrest: Assam education minister Ripun Bora was arrested by CBI in Delhi on June 3 while he was trying to bribe one of its officials who was probing into the sensational Danial Topno murder case.

The Second Coming: The breakaway group of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) along with PLP united to bolster the regional politics. Both the AGP factions reunited on October 4 at the regional party’s general convention at Golaghat.

Farewell to arms: The cadres of A and C companies of ULFA’s crack unit ie 28th battalion announced an unilateral ceasefire on June 24 citing their aim at ensuring talk between ULFA and government.

Pride of Assam: Sahitya Akedemy Award to Dr Rita Chaudhury and Vidyasagar Narzary in the third week of December.

Acknowledgment: Dada saheb phalke awardee Dr Bhupen Hazarika awarded the firs ever Assam Ratna award by the Assam government.

End of an era: Noted singer and cultural icon Dilip Sarma passed away in the first week of October.

Dergaon: Woman killed in police-public clash

2 arrested for looting cash from SBI customer

Police have arrested two youths in Morigaon after they looted more than Rs 77,000 in cash from a State Bank of India branch on Wednesday.According to information, the two youths namely Amal and Munna from Rangiya snatched Rs 77,430 in cash from an employee of the Assam State Electricity Board who was three in the queue to deposit it. But they left the spot immediately after the incident. later people saw them loitering near the bank and caught, assaulted and later handed over to the police. Investigation is going on.

Ripun Bora remanded to 3 days police custody

A CBI special court on Wednesday has remanded sacked Assam education minister, his associates Ramesh Maheswai to three days police custody while CBI prayed for more time to investigate the case relating to his attempt to hush up a murder case by offering a hefty Rs 10 lakh bribe. Scribe Mumul Pathak who was also arrested with Bora was remanded to 2 days transit custody after hearing the case at around 12 noon.

10 NSCN(U) cadres killed in Dimapur gunbattle

More than ten NSCN(U) caders were killed at a fierce fighting between NSCM(IM) and its rival NSCN(U) cadres early on Wednesday morning in Dimapur.According to information, the gun battle was running for nearly six hours took place Seithama area near Dimapur in nagaland.NSCN (IM) cadres have claimed that they have killed these cadres in the battle and that they seized a huge cache of arms and ammunitions.Police have yet to ascertain the identity of the dead cadres but NSCN(I-M) claimed that they had killed 10 activists from the rival group. The Central Bureau of Investigation is all set to produce former education minister Ripun Bora, scribe Mukul Pathak and businessman Ramsh Maheswai in the Patiala court, New Delhi on Wednesday.According to information, the CBI will the remand of the three people citing further investigation. Assam minister Ripun Bora arrested by CBI

Assam education minister Ripun Bora has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in New Delhi while he was there in the national capital. According to information, the education minister was arrested in connection with a Rs 10 lakh bribery case. Mr Bora was picked up at his residence from Mothura Road. Sources say he was arrested while he was trying to bribe the CBI officer which was probing a murder case of Danial Toppo. Interrogation is on. Amar Asom journalist Mukul Pathak as also been arrested with Mr Bora. Mukul tried to bribe the CBI men on behalf of the minister.
