Land Scam Rocks Nazira Revenue Circle: Valuable Land Transferred Without Owner's Knowledge

A shocking case of land scam has come to light in Nazira Revenue Circle, where valuable land has been transferred to another person without the knowledge of the original owner, Syeda Honamai Begum, and her heirs.

The land in question is located at Luthuri village under Dhupabar Mouza, and comprises 3 katha of land in Dag No. 359, 1 katha 19 losa in Dag No. 360, and 3 bigha 1 katha 8 losa in Dag No. 201, all under Periodic Patta Nos. 71, 125, and 201, respectively.
According to a letter issued by the Nazira Revenue Circle Office (No.NRC/Bibidh/1/2018-2019/2065, dated 19/07/2025), the 3 katha land in Dag No. 359, under Periodic Patta No. 71, was mutated in the name of Abdul Mujid through a mutation order dated 18/12/2008. The said order was incorporated in the computer jamabandi on 21/12/2022. However, the office claims that it is not aware of any registered document used in this land transfer. It is noteworthy that the mutation order does not mention the basis on which the land was transferred, which is a suspicious circumstance.

According to the said letter of the Revenue Circle Office, the land in question was transferred from the original pattadar, Syeda Honamai, to Abdul Mujid (1 bigha 1 katha 13 losa) and Deben Bora (3 katha) through sale, and was mutated accordingly. However, the original pattadar, Syeda Honamai's  heirs, claim that they never sold the land to anyone, and that the transfer was done through forgery, without their knowledge.

Moreover, it is also stated that there is a discrepancy between the office's 'Hath Jamabandi' and 'Sadar Jamabandi' records, which is a suspicious circumstance.

Similarly, the 1 katha 19 losa land in Dag No. 360, under Periodic Patta No. 125, was mutated in the name of Abdul Mujid through a mutation order dated 06/05/2007, without the knowledge of the original pattadar, Syeda Honamai, citing purchase and possession as the basis for the transfer.

Similarly, the 3 bigha 1 katha 8 losa land under Periodic Patta No. 201 was mutated in the name of Safauddin Ahmed through a mutation order dated 13/13/2003, without the knowledge of the original pattadar.

The affected family has decided to approach higher authorities to seek justice in this matter. It is alleged that some dishonest officials and employees of the Nazira Revenue Circle have been involved in large-scale land scams, transferring land ownership without the knowledge of the original owners, for many years. If the government conducts a thorough investigation, many more such cases of irregularities are likely to come to light.
