Assamese Film "The Last Honour" Garners Awards and International Acclaim

Breaking barriers, the Assamese film "The Last Honour" has embarked on a global journey, captivating audiences worldwide.

This powerful feature film, based on the true story penned by renowned writer Jitumoni Bora, chronicles an extraordinary life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film recently premiered at the Himachal International Film Festival, where director Rosy Bora, in her directorial debut, received the Best Director award. The film itself garnered rave reviews from both the jury and the audience.

Produced by Mrinal Bin Qutub under the Jeuti Production banner, "The Last Honour" has secured a spot in over 15 national and international film festivals, winning multiple accolades, including the coveted Best Film award.

The film's journey doesn't end there. It screened at the prestigious Dhaka International Film Festival, where the festival committee specially honored the film's producer, director, and screenwriter - Mrinal Bin Qutub, Rosy Bora, and Kushal Gogoi, respectively.

"The Last Honour" also captivated audiences beyond Asia. Over 250 spectators witnessed the film at the London Rainbow Film Festival. Notably, Rosy Bora received the Second Best Director award at an international festival in Turkey. Additionally, the film was screened at a German film festival.

The narrative sheds light on the untold story of a courageous Chandal, a social outcast who selflessly cremated over 1,700 COVID-19 victims during the peak of the pandemic. This unsung hero's valiant service, despite going largely unnoticed, is brought to life in this moving and inspiring tale.

The team behind "The Last Honour" is a force to be reckoned with. The script and chief assistant direction were handled by Kushal Gogoi. The cast boasts talented actors like Prayash Phukan, Jina Baishya, Rajib Kro, and Progyashree Hazarika. Sourav Mahanta composed the film's music, while Ratan Sil Sarma and Chandra Kumar Das took the helm of editing and cinematography, respectively.
