NH 31 blocked by flood victims at Kendukona for three hours

The National Highway 31 was blocked on Wednesday for three hours at Kendukona under Kamrup district by about two thousand people of the area under the banner of "Mathauri Punar Nirman aru Ban Sahajya Dabi Samittee, Puthimari". The protest event was started at 9 am and finished at 12 pm. The programme was supported by AGP, BJP, CPI(M), ARMCA, PLP, AUDF, AJYCP, AASU, SFI and various local oraganisations. They demanded Immediate repair of the embankment of the Puthimari river, rehabilitation of flood victims, sufficient supply of flood relief, compensation to all the victims, repair of road and bridges affected by the flood and permanent solution of flood problem of the Puthimari river.

Ananta Deka, MLA,Rangia, Subharam Das, President, Kamrup district AASU committee, Dhiraj Rajbangshi, President, Rangia Sub-Divisional AASU, Hareswar Barman,Ramesh Bhatta, Nausad Ali, Umesh Kalita, Ajit Ch. Kalita and many others spoke in the protect meeting. Officers of Civil Administration and Police department immediately rushed to the area. A memorandum was submitted by the people of the area to the Chief Minister through the ADC, Kamrup. It is to be noted that about 200 villages of Rangia Sub-division were affected by the flood of the Puthimari river in the last month.

Baihata Chariali Police today apprehended two NDFB cadre from Baihata Chariali. Police has recovered one 9mm Pistol and 7 live rounds from their possession. Names of both the ultras are yet to be disclosed.
The troops of Red Horns of Division of the Indian Army deployed at Changsari under Kamalpur PS in Kamrup district has recovered today 70 Kgs of explosives from Changsari. According to the police sources Samnur Ali, a student of Kamalpur MV school got severe injury when he was hit by a truck No. WB -41/ 3109 on the way to his school. He breathed his last on the way to GMCH. The truck was seized from Rangia by Kamalpur Police.
Kamrup Police today apprehended one ULFA cadre namely Mintu Kalita (22) from Bamundi under Sualkuchi PS under Kamrup district of Assam. Police has recovered some documents pertaining to ULFA. Mintu was involved with many extortion activities. He is a member of 709 battalion of ULFA.
An ULFA militant namely Ritul Sarma (25) was apprehended today at Haripur village under Kamalpur PS of Kamrup district by Kamrup Police, Troops of Red Horns Division of the Indian Army and CRPF.The militant is under the custody of Kamalpur Police station.

Kamrup Police apprehended one hardcore ULFA militant namely Nripen Das (29) from Hajo under Kamrup district last night. According to police sources a police team led by Swapnanil Deka,APS, ASP Kamrup launched a search operation acting on specific information and captured the militant.
