Urus Festivel

The religious Urus festivel of Dinkar Khalilar Rahman Majhar Sharif located at Dinkar under Kamalpur revenur circle in Kamrup district will be held on December 11 and 12 next with a two days long programme. This will be the 32th celebration of this festivel. Thousands of people will be gathered in this event from various parts of Assam and the north east.The programmme will be attended by Syeda Anowara Taimur, ex Chief Minister of the state and MP, Rajya Sabha, Maidul Islam Borah, ex Minister, Uttara Kalita, Parliamentary Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development and Madhab Rajbangshi,ex MP. A reception committee has been formed with Uttara Kalita, MLA, Kamalpur as Chief President, Abdul Mazid Saikia as Working President and Hanif Ali as Secretary. The reception committee has appealed all the people to attend the event.

Baihata Chariali Police today apprehended two NDFB cadre from Baihata Chariali. Police has recovered one 9mm Pistol and 7 live rounds from their possession. Names of both the ultras are yet to be disclosed.
The troops of Red Horns of Division of the Indian Army deployed at Changsari under Kamalpur PS in Kamrup district has recovered today 70 Kgs of explosives from Changsari. Acting on specific information army recovered the said explosives. One person has been apprehended in this regard but army has not disclosed the name of the person.

Kamrup Police today apprehended one ULFA cadre namely Mintu Kalita (22) from Bamundi under Sualkuchi PS under Kamrup district of Assam. Police has recovered some documents pertaining to ULFA. Mintu was involved with many extortion activities. He is a member of 709 battalion of ULFA.

According to police sources a police team led by Swapnanil Deka,APS, ASP Kamrup launched a search operation acting on specific information and captured the militant.
