24 nominatios found valid in three constituencies of Kokrajhar district

KOKRAJHAR: A total 24 candidate's nomination papers have been eligible for contesting the assembly elections and three nominatios were rejected during the scrutinization in three constituencies of Kokrajhar district.

Five candidates in Kokrajhar East constituency, eight nomination for Kokrajhar West and 11 candidate's nomination papers were found valid to contest the upcoming assembly elections in three constituencies in Kokrajhar district.

One independent candidate's nomination paper has been rejected in No.30 Kokrajhar East constituency and five nomination papers were found valid to contest the upcoming assembly elections.

In Gossaigaon constituency,11 candidate's nomination papers of the 12 filling nominatios were found eligible for contesting the assembly elections and one independent condidate Khiran Nessa Bibi's nomination paper was rejected.

In Kokrajhar West constituency, eight nomination papers of the nine filling nomination have been found valid for contesting the assembly elections and one independent candidate Dulal Barman was found rejected.

For Kokrajhar East constituency, the scrutinization of nomination papers was held today at DC office conference where canidate and candidate's representatives participated in the presence of election general observer Nabin Chandra Mittal and returning officer.

During the scrutinization, one independent candidate Bidinta Narzary's nomination paper was found invalid and accordingly cancelled due to lack of sufficient proposers during the scrutinized held for No.30 Kokrajhar East constituency.

Five candidate's nomination papers of the six fielded nominations were found valid for contesting the assembly elections in Kokrajhar East constituency.

Valid candidates are included Pramila Rani Brahma (BPF), Lawrence Islary (UPPL), Manaj Kumar Brahma (IND),Sailendra Nath Brahma (IND) and Mijink Brahma (IND).

Returning officer and Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Bhaskar Phukan told that the scrutinized of the nomination papers and five nomination papers were found valid in Kokrajhar East constituency.

He informed that district administration is fully ready to conduct the assembly elections with a strong security deployment across the district. 

In Sidli in, the scrutiny of nomination papers of a total of 8 candidates who filed their papers for 31- Sidli (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) was conducted by its Returning Officer Gautam Talukdar on Saturday here in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office.

After the scrutiny, 5 candidates were found eligible and left in fray and 3 were rejected.

The candidates whose nomination papers were accepted were Jisoya Champramary (Ind), Chandan Brahma (BPF), Joyanta Basumatary (UPPL), Ranjay Kumar Brahma (JDU) and Smriti Basumatary (Ind) while nomination papers of Manamati Goyary (VPI), Joseph Basumatary (Ind) and Bubul Das (Ind) were rejected as they failed to fulfill some mandatory requirements.

Of them, 4 were male candidates and 1 female candidate contesting for the Sidli assembly seat.

As Chirang district falls in the third phase of the upcoming assembly election in the state, the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers will be held on March 22 while polling will be held on April 6.
