KOKRAJHAR: Former three-time MLA from Mazbat constituency and senior BPF leader Karendra Basumatary formally joined the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) at party office in Udalguri district on Wednesday.
Basumatary, who was also former president of All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) and ex chairman of Bodo People's Action Committee(BPAC) has extending support to the implementation of recent signed BTR(Bodoland Territorial Region) joined the UPPL party ahead the general elections of the BTC.
Basumatary was also one of well known Bodo leaders amongst the Bodo society.
Party leaders welcomed and offered warm felicitation to Basumatary with traditional Aronai.
UPPL president Pramod Boro while welcoming Basumatary for his joining the UPPL party said that it is a well gesture for the party ahead the council elections.He said that his party is gaining up mass support amongst the society in the region.
He has expressed hopeful that his party is winning majority seats in the constituencies as citizens are coming forward to extend supports to the UPPL party.
He has assured better development and welfare for the peoples in the region if his party voted in power in the council elections.
Former two-time MLA from Kokrajhar West LAC and senior BPF lesder Hemendra Nath Brahma joined the UPPL party few couple of days in Kokrajhar.
