The Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad(AJYCP) will move to Supreme Court of India seeking Inner Line Permit system for Assam.
The organistion will file a petition in the Apex court shortly. It has started discussion on the matter with lawyers, informed AJYCP Secretary Palash Changmai at a press meet on Thursday.
Changmai said that the people of Assam have lost faith in both the Union the state government.
“The Union government with mute support from the state government has betrayed us by bringing the Citizenship Amendment Act which is a direct threat to our language and culture. Since we have have lost faith upon the Centre and the state, we have decided to move the SC seeking ILP status for us. We are very hopeful that the highest court of the land gives us justice”, Changmai added.
The Union government had on December, 2019 offered ILP status to Manipur with an aim to diffuse the protest against the new citizenship laws.
