Guwahati Biotech Park and Venture Center, Pune in the campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati has organised a one day workshop on Essentials of Scientific Entrepreneurship. The topics covered in the workshop are Raising money, tech transfer, company formation, inventive problem solving, IP, networking & pitching. Sessions also covered on BIRAC-BIG Scheme (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council - Biotechnology Ignition Grant Scheme) designed for Individuals/ entrepreneurs & Academicians and startups to establish proof-of-concept data for their exciting ideas in the field of life sciences on 6th December 2019.
This year a new scheme focused on North East Region has launched specially giving emphasis on innovative biotech startup ideas for implementation in NER (www.birac.nic.in) also opened for the NE States. The grant amount is Rupees 25lakhs for 18 months (Last date 15.01.2020) and Guwahati Biotech Park is providing R & D platform to start the entrepreneurial venture under this schemes and others.
Dr V Premnath, Director, Venture Center has delivered the talk on introduction to scientific entreprises, basics, financials of a business along with IP strategies. The program was coordinated by Dr Bula Choudhury, Senior Scientist, Guwahati Biotech Park .
Entrepreneurs/startups from different sectors, students and faculties from IITG,GU,DU,NIPERG, IASST, NIF , Assam Startups were also participated in the program.
Dr Priya, Manager, Venture Center discussed about the best propositions on fundraising and grant writing; Dr Suprio Sen Founder Director, Ouija Biosolutions Pvt Ltd and Dr Swapnil Sinha, Founder Director, M/S BioAptagen Pvt Ltd. has also shared their journey as an entrepreneur in this platform.
