Protest to fill vacancies of school teachers

KOKRAJHAR: "Several hundred teacher's posts are lying vacant in Bodo medium schools of Kokrajhar district as well across the state. The state government should initiate filling these vacancies by appointing teachers and make healthy educational environment", said the All Bodo Primary Teachers' Association (ABPTA).

President of Kokrajhar district unit of the association, Dwmwilu Basumatary told that the Bodo medium schools are facing lots of problem and crisis in their curriculum for a long time. He said that the schools are not getting the textbooks on time as the new curriculum begins from the first week of January. He informed that many schools lack teachers leading to poor performance of students.

He said that every year several hundred teachers retire and but the vacancies are filled up by the state government.

He also said that the amalgamation method has also created severe issues to the Bodo medium schools in the state because large number of the Bodo medium schools have merged up with nearby schools on the basis of students enrolments.

He demanded that the state government immediately take initiative to recruit new teachers and regularized the TET teachers who were engaged in contractual system.

Leader of the association, Ratindra Basumatary alleged that state government and education department have not giving due support to the Bodo medium schools.

Primary Teacher's Association and Bodo  Sahitya Sabha have been demanding to fill up vacancies of the teacher's posts in the schools.

Meanwhile, the Kokrajhar district unit of the association observed 48th foundation day on Monday here at Basic Training Centre (BTC) auditorium with day long programme. The association was founded in 1974 and working for the welfare of the teachers in the state.

As part of the programme scheduled,president of the district unit,Dwmwilu Basumatary hoisted organisational flag followed by homage to martyrs.Vice president of the association Jaiklong Narzary paid homage on the occasion.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
