Solung celebration begins

PASIGHAT: The four –day long 53rd Central Solung Celebrations of the Adi Community began here today at Giidi Notko with traditional fervour and zeal.

The Socio –cultural festival of the Adi community is also an occasion to showcase and share our rich cultural heritage,folk dances & songs , Ponung dance, costumes, ethnic cuisines with others ,said Local MLA Kaling Moyong , as the Chief Guest ,while greeting the people on the festive occasion.Lets extend our traditional hospitality to the visiting players,team members of the Senior Women National Football Championship and other visitors to join and experience our rich tradition and culture, Moyong called upon.

Earlier,invoking the prayer of of Solung festival “ Ute denne Densa molangka ,Koje denne densa molangka”, the local MLA extended his Solung greetings and prayed for the peace,progress and prosperity of the community and mankind as a whole on the auspicious festive occasion of Solung Festival.

Earlier, the Guest of Honour, General secretary , Tanw Supun Dukun(TSD), Prof. Pura Tago, , also greeted the members of the Adi Community on the festive and auspicious occasion of Solung Festival. . In his address, Prof. Tago advocated for development of approved common language for the Abo Tani Tribes adding that they share a common root language while also tracing a common origin. The Tanw Supun Dukun Secretary General also lauded the Adi Community for their pioneering roles and contribution in various fields, particularly in the field of education and culture. “We are indebted as whole to the Adi Community” he said while referring to pioneers of the Community, who played the role of Torchbearers in the socio-economic growth of the state.

He also called for promotion of more cultural exchanges and harmonious growth of the various communities of the state and the Nation in general. He said that Central Dree Celebration also marked its 53rd year this year. Irrespective of our faiths, we must come together to celebrate and promote our rich culture and heritage, he said on the occasion.

Special Guest, Bai Taba, Secretary General, IFSAP, said that our traditional festivals are our identity and celebration of traditional festivals strengthens our cultural values and ethos and promotes community bonding,particularly among the younger generation.On the occasion ,the IFSAP Secretary General also remembered the contribution of Guru Lambona Golgi Bote Talom Rukbo for the immense contribution made for preservation of Indigineous Faiths and Culture of the various communities of the state. A Gurukul Model Institution to impart on the rich cuture n customs to the young generation is proposed n mooted to be set up in Pasighat, the Birthpalce of Shri Talom Rukbo, he informed on the occasion.

Earlie,Mudang Indira, Joint Secretary District Unit, Bomdila, Tanw Supun(TSD) Dukun,Dani Tasser, District Joint Secretary,TSD,Pasighat and District Statistical Officer, Dr. Narang Tari,Associate Professor, JNC and Jt Secretary TSD and Smti Yalu Mudang Pura were also felicitated by the festival Committee.

Former Union Mos and Ruksin MLA, Shri Ninong Ering, Smt Nanom Jamoh, Member, State Food Commission, SP East Siang, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, CE, Central Zone ,PWD, Er.Markar Bam,senior Citizens and GBs among other also joined in the inaugural celebration of Central Solung.

President, CSFCC-2019, Mongol Gao highlighted the collective efforts made by all to ensure successful celebration and highlighted the need for permanent Multi purpose hall at Giidi Notko.

Secretary General Er.Kaling Panggeng and Vice-President, Kalen Komut of CSFCC-2019 also extended the welcome and Vote of thanks respectively.

The Guests earlier performed the Solung Ritual of Taku Tabat . The Binnyat Team was led by Binnyat Ane Dr. Yater Ringu Darrang. The Chief Guest also inaugurated the Food and Textiles and other Exhibition stalls at Giidi Notko.

Later,Prof. Premjit Singh,Vice Chancellor , CAU, inaugurated the Cultural evening.

Cultural competitions (Folk Dance) by Cultural teams from various villages and Ponung on Limir Libom Abang are the other highlights of the Solung Celebrations.

A devastating accident at the Ennore Thermal Power construction site in Tamil Nadu claimed the lives of nine workers from Assam and nearby regions on Tuesday, after a steel arch collapsed. TANGEDCO Chairman Dr. J.
