Flood toll 10; 4,626 villages in 29 districts under water

As on 17th July 2019, total 4,626 number of villages in 114 revenue circles of 29 number of Districts Viz. Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Udalguri, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, Golaghat, Majuli, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar, Karbi Anglong and Karimganj of Assam have been affected in the Flood. Approximately 57, 51,938 people have been affected.

Presently, 427 numbers of Relief Camps are operational in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Morigaon, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Majuli, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar and Karimganj districts with 1,51,947 inmates and 392 Relief Distribution Centres in the districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Udalguri, Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, South Salmara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, Golaghat, Majuli, Dibrugarh and Cachar.

Total 10 numbers of persons have lost their lives due to flood in the districts of Sonitpur (2), Udalguri (2), Kamrup (M) (1), Morigaon (4) and Nagaon (1) in last 24 hours. In this season, the total numbers of death is now 28 persons in Flood and 2 persons in landslide.

Water level of Rivers at Danger Level: Brahmaputra at Neamatighat (Jorhat), Tezpur (Sonitpur), Guwahati (Kamrup), Goalpara, Dhubri; Dhansiri (S) at Numaligarh (Golaghat); Jia Bharali at N.T.Rd.Xing (Sonitpur); Kopili at Kampur and Dharamtul (Nagaon), Puthimari at N.H.Rd.Xing (Kamrup); Beki at Rd. Bridge (Barpeta); Katakhal at Matizuri (Hailakandi); Kushiyara at Karimganj.

NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) teams have been pressed into service in the flood affected areas for search and rescue operation.
