Congress alleges BJP MLAs role in compensation scam

Buoyed by the induction of 2 NPP MLAs and 3 BJP leaders, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has sharpened attack the State government charging a section of minister with embezzling the compensation fund meant for the trans Arunachal Highway project.

Addressing a press conference in Itanagar, state Congress president Takam Sanjay said the verification report on the Potin-Bopi TAH compensation scam has clear mention of MLAs from Raga, Yachuli and Ziro. He said he had gone through the report where he came to know these names for their involvement in the scam. According to him, RKM Hospital should not be a central jail for the VIPs while Jullang central jail is for the poor people.

The Congress leader said, “The law should be equal; its equal for all and it should target equally each and every one, irrespective of their positions.”

Assam Rifles clinched Assam State Premier League

Assam Rifles, Tezpur, won the Airtel Assam State Premier League football tournament title for the third consecutive time, defeating Oil India FC, Duliajan 2-1 in the title clash at Nehru Stadium.


L Santa Singh put Assam Rifles ahead in the 23rd minute with a long ranger while L Kima increased the margin in the 59th minute with a spectacular header. Trailing by two goals, the Oil India men made several attempts but in vain as their success came in the 89th minute through H L Ruata.


Assam Rifles was richer by Rs 1 lakh while Oil India received Rs 50, 000.


Dima Hasao Dol released manifesto

S K Biuisumutiary, MP released the election manifesto of Dima Hasao Dol in a public meeting held at the playground of Diyungbra Jalairaoni Hosom  in presence of huge gatherings on Monday.

This was followed by a public meeting wherein Anil Basumatary, ABSU, Bahim Langthasa, a social worker, Rajesh Naiding etc.

MP while releasing the manifest of the Dima Hasao Dol appealed to the people of Diyungbra constituency to extend their whole hearted support to the Dima Hasao Dol candidate Sri Dilip Nunisa wherein DHD(J) C-in-C Niranjan Hojai and Mayanan Kemprai are contesting as independent and Congress candidates.

Speaking on the occasion Bahim Langthasa also put forward his opinion in favour of Dima Hasao Dol and appealed to the people of Diyungbra to support Dilip Nunisa so that a change could be brought in near future.

 Talking to this correspondent Sri Dilip Nunisa said the manifesto is having number of points in terms of development of the district but the proper implementation of MoS would be given top priority since the proper implementation of the MoS would be the all proof solution for the people of Dima Hasao at large.

 

Rally at Harangajao

Several hundreds of people from various communities of Harangajao in Dima Hasao took out rally at Harangajao on Monday.

This was an election rally organized in favour of Sri Amendu Hojai, an independent candidate from 23 Harangajao constituency of N C Hill Autonomous Council.

The procession started from Dima Hasao Dol office marched through the major parts of Harangajao concluded at Community Hall.

This was followed by a well attended meeting held in connection with the election to the 11th N C Hill Autonomous Council scheduled to be held on May 20th next.

All the speakers tried their level best to convince the people and appealed to support Sri Hojai.

Talking to the media people of Harangajao expressed their desire to extend their support to Sri Hojai as all the previous leaders never paid any attention to Harangajao though there were MP, MLA and CEM from this place only.

P Jidung, a prominent citizen of Harangajao while talking to this correspondent said since long even my father had been supporting the congress but most of the previous leaders irrespective of party affiliation did nothing for the development of Harangajao circle. He confidently said this time he will be supporting the new candidate not the old one.

Smt P Hrankhol, a women activist of Harangajao said Harangajao circle, the most backward area of the district was ever neglected area since the leaders from this place often forget them just after coming to the power. She said the people of Harangajao are suffering a lot due to lack of medical facilities, road communication, education etc since long but the leaders often make promises before the election but forgets just after the election is over. Therefore, this time, they are not going to commit any mistake in choosing their leaders.

Dissidence drama shifts to Delhi

  Both anti and pro Tarun Gogoi leaders are camping in New Delhi to end the dissidence within the Congress Legislature party.

Senior minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has been sprear heading the dissidence against Tarun Gogoi as chief minister arrived in the capital to call on Sonia Gandhi.

Senior MLAs Abdul Muhim Mazumdar and Sarat Borkotoky, who are dead opposed to Gogoi as chief minister are scheduled to call on AICC leaders on Monday.

 On the other hand, pro Tarun Gogoi leader Anjan Dutta is waiting to meet the AICC president on Monday. Dutta has already met AICC leader Dr C P Joshi whom he told that Gogoi should be retained in the top job till 2016 assembly polls.

Notably, AICC leaders summoned him to New Delhi to discuss the issue along with dissident camp leaders Gautom Roy and Sushmita Dev. //
