Lets unitedly fight against terror and not panic – PM

Prime Minister of India Dr. Monmohan Singh while a section of selected media persons at Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) lobby after visiting the blast site at CJM Court Kachari and injured at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) and Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) assured that Government will book the culprits involved behind the blast and requested people not to panic. He appealed the people to unitedly fight against terror and terrorist activities.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today held discussions on the prevailing law and order situation in Assam in the wake of serial bomb blasts with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his Cabinet ministers and senior Government officials at the LGBI Airport.

Dr. Singh who came to the State to take stock of the situation following Thursday's serial blast that rocked Assam in particular and the nation as a whole that claimed 80 lives so far visited the MMC and GMC hospitals to see the injured admitted there and the blast in the capital city. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries, Santosh Mohan Deb accompanied the Prime Minister.

Dr. Singh assured the Central Government's all help and support to the State Government in this hour of crisis and expressed his Government's steely resolve to fight back terror and ensure security to the people of Assam. Dr. Singh hardly replied to media queries like "Do you agree UPA Government to be lenient towards terrorism", "Your stand on Bangladesh and Bangladeshi after this powerful serial blast" etc. He simply said that he as head of the nation was here to share grievances of the people injured and kith and kin of the blast victims. He expressed solidarity and called for peace. He brief the media for 2 minutes 25 seconds.

The Prime Minister left for Delhi after the meeting. He was seen off at the airport by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his Cabinet colleagues.
