Sonowal lays foundation stone of Kokrajhar Medical College

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone for construction of Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital(KMCH) at Beswargaon near Debargaon in Kokrajhar on Sunday in the presence of Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary. The medical college's construction would be completed within three years and constructed amounting of Rs. 382.70 crores from state fund.

Sonowal while addressing the programme after laying foundation stone, said that  it was a dream of the region and today come up with laying foundation stone to facilitate medical and health services in the region.He has claimed that Kokrajhar got new connection in the field of medical and health sector by laying foundation stone.

He said that  state government was working to the all round development of the state since its inception in the state.

'State govt has been emphasized to gain healthy integration in the field of education, social environment in the state’,he said.

'Peace and integration is the main needy among society and so society must come up to the building of the healthy state.Citizens are main part of the society',he said.

'We are committed to work for the protection of language, culture, social status and so coming with strong initiative to protect safe and integration for the greater interest of Assam.

Not to be worried over the over situation, we must prevailed peace and unity.Rupsi airport would  be  reconstructed in Kokrajhar',Sonowal said.

Speaking the programme, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, said that under the bold leadership of CM Sonowal, Kokrajhar medical college is coming up in Kokrajhar. Several development aspect and schemes are being taking up to pave way developmental activities.

'Where there is no peace ,there will be no dev and welfare, so we must prevail peace and unity among all sections of society',Mohilary said.

'Sports Academy would be setting up in Kokrajhar, Forest College will be Chirang,Agriculture College in Baksa and Engineering College in Udalguri district',he said.

He said that  martyrs families of the Bodoland movement would be given compensations during the Bodoland Day celebration on February 10.

'Rupsi airport's construction is coming to complete and Helipad would be setting up in Kokrajhar. BJP party will win majority in 2019 Lok Sabha election and Narendra Modi will be retained his PM post on the country. But, I don't know what would be CM post in the state in 2021 Assembly election',he said.

' If Government grants separate Bodoland statehood,I shall also be happy with issues as Bodos are taking demands for Bodoland statehood movement. But, so far no sufficient human resources as well industries are gained in the region, so creation of Bodoland statehood is not possible.

'There is no criteria to create Bodoland statehood',he said.                                   

 Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Kokrajhar Medical College will be constructed amounting of Rs. 382.70. crores from the state government. There would be 500 bedded in the hospital.

Students from the region as well state would be getting opportunity to acquire higher studies in the hospital. He said that state government was working for the uplifting of the region. Nursing College and Dental College would also setting up in the medical college and hospital complex.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district.
