KOKRAJHAR: The first ever inter-college sports meet of Bodoland University has been kicked start from Monday at Bodoland University ground with three-day colourful programme scheduled in Kokrajhar. BTC council head of department (CHD) for sports, Jajnabati Basumatary inaugurated the sports meet in the presence of mamooth participants. Altogether 18 colleges from different districts of Lower Assam region participated in the sports meet, which was organized by Bodoland University in association with Bodoland University Students Union (BUSU). In the sports meet, competitions of football, Kabbadi for both boys and girls have been organized and participants showcased good sporting talents. In the Kabbadi(girls),Mushalpur College beat Auxilum College,Udalguri in 2-1 sets in the inaugural match. Basumatary extended her best greetings to the organizers for organizing such a gala sports meet among students . "Sports is an integral part of human life, so students can also opt for sports as a career prospect’, She said. The organizer of the sports meet, Dr Prahalad Basumatary informed that there 18 colleges which participated in the meet and took part in the football, Kabbadi events. He appreciated the efforts of the Bodoland University and hoped that sports meet will encourage budding sports persons from the region.

KOKRAJHAR, DEC 23: In a significant anti-poaching operation, a joint team of police and forest officials apprehended three poachers from 1 No. Donga village near the India-Bhutan border in Tamulpur district on Sunday. The team also seized two handmade rifles and an elephant tusk during the raids.
