Buddha Purnima observed in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: Along with rest of the state, the Buddha Purnima was observed at Bodoland Buddhist Park temple and Saralpara with colourful programme scheduled in Kokrajhar district today. The celebration venue saw huge participation of devotees on the Gautam Buddha jayanti observation.

The Buddha Purnima was organised by Bodoland Buddhist Park management committee to pay prayer and worship through the Buddhist religious mythology. Devotees from different areas participated to offer their prayer and worship to lord Gautam Buddha on the Buddha Purnima tithi. The temple saw beautiful with huge participation of devotees.

' I am attending the Buddha Purnima at the Buddhis temple to offer my prayer and worship to the lord Buddha on his holy day. I prayed for healthy welfare of my family and social uplift on the day ',said a Buddhist devotee.

At Saralpara along the Indo Bhutan border,the day was organised with colourful programme scheduled with festivity fervour. Peoples from all sections of society participated on teh day which saw an integration with festivity environment.

A religious ralat wad also carried out on the day to mark the celebration in which cultural troupe as well citizens participated.

KOKRAJHAR: A five year old minor male boy was found at Kokrajhar railway station in Kokrajhar.The boy was today produced before the  child welfare committee(CWC) Kokrajhar and has sent to child destination home at Anthaigwlao Chandrapara in Kokrajhar. Kokrajhar: A total 144 relief camps have been opened for 125,181 flood affected peoples in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts in BTAD region. Altogether 86,500 flood affected peoples are taking shelter at 120 relief camps across the Kokrajhar district which are severely affected in the flash floods. Even though,river waters are now low,yet affected are getting reported from various areas in the district. Kokrajhar: Former MP and academician Charan Narzary passed away on Tuesday morning at 4.30 am at a private hospital in Guwahati. He was admitted to the hospital few months back. He was 87. One person died in Kokrajhar district due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) at Lower Assam hospital, Bongaigaon on Friday afternoon. Four other persons have also been detected positive JE in the district and they are going under treatment at various hospitals in Bongaigaon and Guwahati. Kokrajhar district unit of Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) and Women Wing of BPF distributed relief materials among inmates at Shikarbill flood relief camp in Kokrajhar district today.
