Tchoukball tourney from May 14

Kokrajhar: Preparations are going on in full swing to hold the second All Assam Biki Alchiary and Sansuma Kungur Basumatary memorial Tchoukball tournament-2018 beginning from May 14 next with two day programme scheduled in Kokrajhar. 

The tournament has been organised by Assam Tchoukball Assam to hunt sporting talents in the state.

A reception committee and eight sub committees have been formed to conduct the tournament with Simon Kisku as chairman and Molendra Narzary as convenor. 

The association has also organising Rongjali Bwisagu Bidai Pwrbw,felicitation to the award winners of Biki Alchiary National Tchoukball awards 2018,second All Assam Biki Alchiary and Sansuma Kungur Basumatary memorial Tchoukball tournament 2018,women Kabadi, dance competition  quiz are organising during the tournament.

The tournament will held at Jwhwlao Daimalu Pwthar, Karigaon in Kokrajhar. 

Secretary of the association Ashok Kumar Goyary informed thai the tournament anda Rongjali Bwisagu pwrbw will be organising which will begin from May 14 with different colourful programme scheduled in Kokrajhar. 

He said that huge participants from different districts of the state are participating. He has appealed all sections of society to cooperate the programme to meet healthy successful.

Gauhati High Court Celebrates Diamond Jubilee

The towering white structure of the Gauhat High Court, a landmark of Guwahati stands tall glimmering in the city skyline. A keeper of law and a defender of justice it has been advocating justice since the past sixty years of glorious existence.

It was way back in the year 1948 on April 5 Ronald Francis Lodge was appointed the first Chief Justice of the Assam High Court. The Assam High Court was inaugurated by then chief justice of India Justice Harilal Kania in the present house of the district and sessions judge , Kamrup Guahati on the western bank of Dighalipukhuri. The inaugural ceremony was attended by many luminaries of Assam including Sir Akbar Hydari, Pemier Gopinath Bordoloi, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed etc.

Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed , the Advocate General of Assam guaranteed complete cooperation of the members of the Bar Association for the administration of justice.

The High Court initially had its sitting in Shillong but in July 1948 the government decided to shift it to Guwahati. However, its new building at the present site was inaugurated in 1957.

RF Lodge, TV Thandani and Ram Labhaya (Puisine Judge), were the judges while FA Ahmed, the former President of India was the Advocatw General along with kairam barman, bhabesh Chandra Barua and lyngdog as the Government Advocates.

Since its inception the Gauhati High Court has been continuing its crusade for justice in northeastern India. It has earnestly carried out its task in this region despite the varied laws and customs of the region.

In keeping with the constitution of modern India the Supreme Court and the High Courts became constitutional guardians of the people and for the past 60 years the Gauhati High Court has carried forward a legacy of justice in a democratic society.

Apart from its principal seat at Guwahati the court has under its umbrella the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal pradesh having its benches at Shillong, Kohima, Imphal, Agartala, Aizawal and Itanagar.

The Diamond Jubilee Celebration was organized at the ITA Complex at Machkhowa, in Guwahati. The legal fraternity of India, from the Chief Justice of India, Justice KG Balakrishnan to Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Justice Jasti Chelameswar was all praise for the Gauhati High Court.

Dam equipment hits roadblock

Amid massive security, a huge trailer is believed to have been carrying vital equipment for big dams in Arunachal Pradesh.

The trailer managed to crossed Guwahati on Monday night and is set to reach Tezpur on Tuesday afternoon triggering protest in Nagaon.  

KMSS activists, which has been dead opposed to the dams in Gerukamukh are trying to resist the move by holding road blockade in some places on the National Highway 37.

Shab-e-barat observed in Tangla

Muslims around the town observed ‘Shab-e-barat’ or the ‘night of deliverance’ on Sunday night. Shab-e-Barat, the night of deliverance, falls on the 14th day of the Islamic month of Shaban. Muslims pray in preparation for Ramzan and seek forgiveness of their sins.

Special prayers and sermons marked the ocassion were held at Bara Masjid and Banseria mosques of the town.

Houses and streets are are also illuminated by candles and strands of electric bulbs to provide a joyful ambiance to the festival.

As per islamic belief on the night of Shab-E-Barat Allah writes the destinies of all men for the coming year by taking into account the deeds committed by them in the past.

Legend also says that on this night the Prophet visits each house and relieves the pains of suffering humanity.

The night of Shab-E-Barat also commemorates the entry of Prophet Muhammad pbuh into the city of Mecca. However, Shia Muslims associate this night with the birth of their last Imam.
