Kokrajhar: : Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Trust observed 159th birth anniversary of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma,founder of Brahma Dharma today at Bodoland University in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.
Floral tributes offered to the portrait of Gurudev on his birth anniversary and recalled contributions of Gurudev towards tribal peoples in the state,apart from Bodo peoples.
Noted educationist and authored Dr Prafulla Mahanta, Dr Anjali Daimari, Guwahati University, Padmashri (Dr) Kameswar Brahma were attended as guests on the occasion and delivered lectures on his contributions.
A seminar on the topic of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma-a multifaceted personality was also organised with Rakheswar Brahma,chairman of the GKB trust in the chair.
Dr Mahanta remembered contributions of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma,who was regarded as a person of social reformer after Srimanta Sangkardev in the state. Gurudev dedicated his life for the welfare of the social uplift, especially for down trodden communities,apart from Bodos.
The North East Affected Area Development Society (NEADS) took a significant step towards promoting sustainable agriculture and empowering local communities with the inauguration of a Farmers Field School and Indigenous Seed Bank in Jorhat, Assam.
