LAKHIMPUR: Yet another girl was kidnapped and gangraped before being dumped on the roadside in Lakhimpur sending shock and anger across the state on Monday.
The gory incident took place on Sunday evening in Naoboisa area where the minor girl was believed to have been forcibly picked up from the road to be gangraped by five miscreants at night.
She was rescued in a critical condition on the roadside in the wee hours. Local residents and police have rushed her to the hospital where she has been battling to survive.
Police have registered a case and hunt is on to locate the miscreants. “We are waiting for the medical report and the victim is also unwell. But we have been investigating the case acting on whatever inputs we have at hand. Beyond that we can't disclose anything,” said a senior police officer. Meanwhile, many local residents and individuals have demanded immediate arrest of the perpetrators and their examplary punishment.
