Kokrajhar: Normal train services remained heavily disrupted in BTAD areas on Friday when AKRSU blocked the rail tracks in Kokrajhar reiterating demands for ST status and separate Kamatapur statehood.
The 12 hour blockade which started at 5 in the morning forced the Northeast Frontier Railways to cancel atleast a dozen trains which included Dhubri Kamakhya passenger, Bongaigaon NJP passenger, Demo Passenger, NJP Lumding intercity.
Flashing banners and placards, hundreds of protestors squatted along the tracks to block the movement of all up and down trains from 5 in the morning causing immense suffering for the passengers.
Several trains have been remaining stranded at various stations for this logjam. The Tribandrum express (12507) remains unmoved at Fakiragram Up Dadar express (15645)at Kamakhyaguri stations.
The AKRSU leaders slammed government for not initiating measures to solve the demand and issues of the Koch Rajbonhshi communities in the state.
