GUWAHATI: Assam Times Journalist and conservation activist Mubina Akhtar received the award of Excellence in Journalism, 2018 for her relentless contribution to the field of Environmental Reporting  from the  State Social Justice Commission at a function in the city organized to mark the International Women's Day.

Ten women from the state were awarded for their contributions in their respective fields. The award comprised a citation, a memento, phoolam gamocha and a japi.

Akhtar started her career as a journalist in the 90's and dedicated herself to the field of environment reporting. Her long 22 years of career as a environmental journalist, she has written thousands of stories on green issues relating to the Northeast.

An anthology of her work "Green Reporting" was launched in the Guwahati Book Fair last November. She is also attached in the editorial board of Assam Times.
