Kokrajhar,Feb 24:A colourful cultural procession carried out in connection with the closing day of the 18th Varsity Week celebration of the Bodoland University struck overwhelming attention at Debargaon in Kokrajhar district on Saturday.
Hundreds of students joined the procession showcasing the unique cultural heritage of the various tribes and groups scattering in the north eastern region.
The girl participants stole the march displaying different activities and designs which was really unique.
Dr Hemanta Kumar Baruah,vice chancellore of Bodoland University flagged off the rally at university which traversed to JD Road,CIT Kokrajhar and concluded at the beginning point. The culrural procession was organised by Bodoland University Students Union( BUSU)to mark the celebration. Bagurumba dance of Bodo community with traditional music instruments was showcase by students on the procession highlighting Bodo attire cultural activities. Assam is a state of multi cultural,caste,creed and language which saw during the procession,apart from Assamese,Bengali,Nepali,Adivashi,Muslim,Marowary etc besides highlighting festival and occasion celebrartions like Christmass,Holi,Durga Puja,Bathou Puja,Eid Mubarak across the state calendar. The procession has been emphasized women empowerment with bringing awareness on stop crime against women and build a healthy society. Girl students displayed drama based procession with the symbolic message how to eradicate crime activities on women and law remedial measures. ”We want Bodoland,divide Assam 50/50,no Bodoland no rest“,was displayed with banner and placards carried by Bodo department students. “Symbolic statues of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi,Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha,martyr Kanaklata and croping activities carried out by farmers in the state.Peoples representing from different caste and communities of the state are based on the unity and diversity have created integrational spirits through the procession. “I am very much excited with beautiful cultural procession which showcase unity and diversity among different ethnic communities“,said Dr Baruah highlighting the cultural procession. The cultural rally was carried out to mark the Thulunga festival in connection with varsity week celebration of Bodoland University.The students displayed beautiful creativity and amusement cultural integration representing different departments,said general secretary of the students union of Bodoland University Akhi Boro. “ The varsity week celebration marked the talented creativity with bringing healthy integrity in the state which was emphasized in the procession“,said Puja Basumatary,a students union member. “ We showcase state's Bihu dance with highlighting mezighar,celebration of Bihu and cultural activities in the state”,said a student participant from Assamese department.
