Share fervor of Maha Shivratri

GUWAHATI: The Shiva temples scattering in the nook and corner of Assam witnessed huge gathering when devotees waited in serpentine queue to offer puja to the Lord to mark the Maha Shivatri on Wednesday. From early in the morning the devotees in large number started offering pujas to the Lord Shiva amid traditional religious fervor.

 Sivasagar breaks into a sea of humanity when nearly three lakh people thronged the historic town to join the International Shivratri Festival which got underway on Tuesday. In Guwahati also, devotees have crossed the river Brahmaputra to land the tiny island where the historic Umananda temple houses. Thousands of devotees offered puja to the Lord on this occasion.

 Similar religious fervor marked in Namrup, Jorthat, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, BTAD areas, Dimakuchi, Hojai, Raha, Nagaon, Sonitpur, Dhalpur, Nazira, Barpeta.  

SUVANGSU BORA ADDS: Golaghat also joined the Shivratri festival with traditional Hindu religious fervor. The focus falls on the Panchajanya temple where devotees thronged in thousands to offer puja to the Lord Shiva to mark the occasion. Same enthusiasm prevails in other Shiva temples across the district.

The body of a tiger was discovered in the Horonbali Chapori area of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, located in Assam’s Biswanath district, on Monday. Guwahati Police has successfully busted a cybercrime gang involved in a major fraud operation. Eight individuals were arrested following a raid at a lodge in Boragaon.
