Sahitya Sabha session starts without prez

TINSUKIA: With much fanfare and cultural extravaganza the Asom Sahitya Sabha session gets underway in Tinsukia on Wednesday.

President of the state's largest literary organization Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora, however, is absent from the event on health ground.

Dr Bora, who was scheduled to arrive in the session venue on Thursday has cancelled his programme since he was rushed to a hospital in Delhi on Wednesday following sudden complaint of ailment.

"It pains us to have missed the president who was scheduled to arrive on Thursday to lead the three days session. On Wednesday evening we got to know that he was ailing to be admitted at a hospital in Ghaziabad as he was attending a meeting of the Medical Council of India," said a Sabha official adding that Vice president Prahlad Kumar Tasha will lead the session in his absence.

Book fairs, exhibition, seminar, open session, cultural programmes are lined up for the three days event.
