NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has received a PIL challenging Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Badminton Association of India chairman.In his PIL, Kamalesh Verma said the appointment of the senior BJP leader and cabinet minister in the Sarbanabda Sonowal government is a clear violation of the apex court order against appointment of minister or civil service in the vital sports body.
Verma further said Sarma has no connection with sports and that there are graft charges against him. He said CBI team probing the chit fund scam in Assam has already interrogated him.Sarma took over aS BAI president last year. The top court is expected to look in to the PIL in a couple of days.
