BPF worker shot dead

GUWAHATI: Yet another shoot out strikes no less shock and anger in Kamrup suggesting utter failure of police to make the premier north eastern city and it's outskirt areas a safe and secured.

Unidentified gunmen shot dead a BPF worker in Musolpur on Tuesday night a day after a businessman was killed to take away money from his possession.

The new incident took place at around 9 in Lamidara area where two motorcycle born youths sprayed two rounds of bullets at Banajeet Haloi as the BPF worker was on his way to attend the Bathow puja festival.

Banaheet was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police men rushed to the spot. But there seems to be no lead so far on the gunmen who vanished immediately after the attack.

Local residents in the area have slammed in the fragile safety and security scenario alleging that security forces are being deployed only to ensure safety in the upcoming Advantage Assam.

"We can't dismiss the possibility of political hostility behind this sensational killing since Haloi was actively associated with the non Bodo organizations till the other day. Later he joined BPF," said a local resident Here.

BPF leadership have strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the perpetrators involved in it.

The incident took place hardly 24 hours after two unidentified gunmen shot dead a businessman at Bijoynagar area in the evening and took away his money bag.
