BJP leader joins Cong, targets Ranjit Das

GUWAHATI: A senior BJP leader on Tuesday joined Congress alleging autocratic style of functionings by the state party leadership.

He is none other than Manoranjan Das, the former party MLA from Pattacharkuchi who has finally joined Congress after several months of taking on the party leadership.

Das said it has become impossible for him to be with the party with a circle of selfish leaders at the helm.

He targetted state BJP president Ranjit Das alleging that he along with Himanta Biswa Sarma has been trying to dislodge Sarbanabda Sonowal as chief minister.

He joined the opposition party along with eight block level supporters at a function in the Rajib Bhawan in presence of several senior party leaders.

Welcoming Das and his supporters to the party state Congress president Ripun Bora said it would be a huge boost for the opposition party ahead of the assembly polls.

Das, who won with BJP in Pattacharkuchi in 2011 was not allowed to contest from the constituency in 2016 because of pre poll alliance with AGP and BPF.
