Destination Bhairabkunda

BHAIRABKUNDA: Bhairabkunda, the name of a picturesque location in the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan has emerged as a tourists' hotspot these days. Picnickers from far flung areas of the north eastern states keep pouring in on every passing day in the winter season. Talking to www.assamtimes.org, a a picnic spot management committee member said till December 24, 915 picnic parties visited Bhairabkunda to share the nature's beauty and bounty.

"It is a good sign for us to earn a few bucks as we eagerly wait for this season and all the petty shops of the locality are happy to welcome the picknickers ,"  he said. Compared to last years, the number of picknickers have sharply increased in Bhairabkunda and if this trend remains unchanged, by the end of January, there will be more than 2000 picnic parties this time. It is to be noted that the picnic spot management committee at Bhairabkunda has been beautifying the riverbanks by launching cleanliness drive  everyday and have drawn images of wild animals on the giant rocks in and around the picnic spots to attract the visitors.

Many small four wheelers and bike riders have been made available in Bhairabkunda to provide the picknickers with the joyride facility with less fuel prices in neighbouring Daifam town of Bhutan were the petrol is sold at an average price of Rs 51.
