Court declines further arrest of Akhil Gogoi

DIBRUGARH: A local court in Dibrugarh disallowed police to arrest Akhil Gogoi in connection with a case pending against the KMSS leader in Dudhnoi.

A team of Goalpara police on Wednesday moved the additional chief judicial magistrate in Dibrugarh seeking permission to get Gogoi in their custody citing a case in Dudhnoi police station.

But the court rejected the plea a day before the Gauhati High Court's ruling on his bail petition. The high court is clearing its ruling on Gogoi's bail petition on Thursday morning.

Dibrugarh police arrested Gogoi under NSA after he openly urged the people at a meeting to be prepared for an armed struggle.
