MARGHERITA: A massive search operation by the security forces have been failing to rescue Arunav Phukan three days after the suspected ULFA-I rebels kidnapped the son of a leading businessman from Margherita.
Army, police and para military forces have been concentrating on Khandubasti area along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh interstate border where the rebels were believed to have kidnapped Arunav at gunpoint.
IGP M Agarwalla along with SP MJ Mahanta on Sunday reviewed the combing operations in search of Arunav. No outfit has so far owned up the responsibility. The Phukans have not disclosed to have received any contact from any outfit or individual.
Arunav, the son of Dilip Phukan who owns a stone query was whisked away by suspected ULFA-I rebels as he was on visit to his father's stone query.
