NAMRUP:A section of people in a remote hamlet in Namrup killed a leopard hours after it killed a lady and hurt 3 others in a series of attack on Friday morning. Not only that after lynching, the villagers cut the animal into pieces in full view of the forest officials. Then they claimed to have consumed it triggering widespread anger among the animal lovers.
These disturbing incidents took place in Majkopihuwa goan and Asomiya Gaon where the local villagers in large number chased the leopard after it killed Maikon Gogoi and injuring three others in s series of attacks in the morning.
The animal then was beaten up to death. A section of them cut it into pieces to vanished. Some of them later claimed to have consumer it which needs to be probed.

The reason why the leopard attacked people is not mentioned. A leopard won't just go on an attack spree. I would assume that these would have been either chance encounters or the leopard retaliating when provoked

After years of will-it-won’t-it, the Assam government is all set to appoint police commissioner for Guwahati.The announcement echoes from Governor JB Patnaik’s speech after unfurling the national flag at the Veterinary Playground in Khanapara.Patnaik said that the commissionerate would be set up soon to firmly deal with the rising crime graph in the city.The government assured the Guwahatians of the police commissionerate in the wake of the 2007 serial blast. But the process got delayed.Chief minister Tarun Gogoi a few months back said that the police commissioner would be appointed after the Republic Day.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi paid glorious tribute to the martyrs at the Shradhanjali Kanon on the occasion of the Republic Day on Sunday.Gogoi arrived in the park at 8 in the morning and laid floral wreath in the memory of the martyrs at a brief function attended by senior officials. Then he left for Khanapara to attend the central function.
Much to a major relief, a hardcore ULFA militant has surrendered before Guwahati city police a day before the Republic Day on Saturday.Identified as Gautom Nath alias Chetia surrendered before senior police superintendent Anand Praksh Tiwary in the evening. Guwahati police busted a gang of thieves during an intensified operation in the city on Saturday.The operation was launched in the Bhutnath area where 11 thieves were captured and some stolen materials including a bike were seized from their possession.
