SC ruling on NRC draft date likely

NEW DELHI: The Supreme court is hearing a crucial petition on NRC on Thursday where the Centre seeks a period of six more months to publish the draft.

A division bench of the top court comprising Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice FA Nariman is hearing the Centre's seeking extension of the deadline to publish the NRC date till July 31,2018 instead of December 31,2017.

The court which heard a set of more than 30 petitions relating to NRC on Wednesday is expected to clear its ruling on the validity of the panchayat documents to support citizenship in NRC.
