GOLAGHAT: Tension starts escalating along the Assam-Nagaland border in Golaghat district where the neighbouring north eastern state opened a new sub division in some areas under the territory of Assam.
The area in question is the Dhansiri sub division where the people from Nagaland open the Kokoi dub division in full view of the security forces. Local residents' told Assam Times that the new Nagaland subdivision has covered at least ten villages which belong Sarupothar in Golaghat district of Assam.
It took place amid growing protest of the move to include the Naga nominated areas in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur areas in the proposed Nagalim in the light of the Naga peace framework which has yet to be made public.
Many political parties and organizations are holding protest against the move asking the Assam government to clear its position.
