Illegal coal trade still on in Margherita! How?

Despite ban, illegal coal trade is going unchecked in Margherita these days. Over 500 trucks, mostly, from Rajasthan,Bihar,  Haryana,Uttar Pradesh and Guwahati keep moving in Margherita area to allegedly carry coal from Collieries even after the ban on coal transportation allowing the entire area to be a den of coal smugglers

According to Margherita AJYCP vice president Partha Sarathi Saikia, the coal mafias might have paid huge amount as commission to the administration and police which is why these are allowed to go unchecked.

He further raised doubts over the role of NEC Coal India Limited in Margherita for the rampant rise in the

illegal coal trade. “We do demand Chief Minister Sarbanabda Sonowal’s intervention to stop it immediately. Otherwise, we have no option to resort to agitation.,” said Saikia.
