Department of Bodo of Chaiduar College organised one day youth motivational programme on good social regeneration for the students at the college campus on 18th October. It was organised to sensitise young people to develop themselves as human resource and contribute for the welfare and positive social transformation in the society. Dr Anjan Kr Ojah, Principal of the college inaugurated the programme and encouraged participating students to participate in similar programme for their benefit and for the benefit of the society. Dr Dipak Das , Vice Principal of the college persuaded the students by singing Bodo version of ‘ Manuhe Manuhe Babe ‘ and appealed the students to work for the society .
The key speaker of the programme was Ranjan K Baruah from North East Youth Foundation who spoke on various topics. He spoke on positive attitude apart from maintaining ethics and integrity in life and to take up the challenge for brining positive social transformation. There was presentation on various career options which can be opt for the benefit of the society. There were more focus on how one may join the development sector professionally and skills required to become a successful developmental professional or activists. The three hour long programme was moderated by Sunilal Basumatary, HoD of Bodo Department. There was interaction with the students with the speakers which was attended by more than 300 students of the college.
Three hardcore NSLA militants have been nabbed in Gossaigaon on
Saturday two days after they allegedly shot dead an auto driver.
The militants were arrested during a raid conducted at a house in
Gossaigaon in morning. Two MM pistols were seized from their
possession along with two magazines, an AK-47 rifle and some bullets
were seized from their possession.
Normal life remains crippled following the 24 hour bandh call in the
Rabha Hasong dominated areas on Saturday.
The Rabha National Liberation Front called the bandh on Saturday
morning demanding Rabha Hasong Council polls. Untoward incidents have
been reported during the 24 hour bandhs in Goalpara district.

The Assam-Meghalaya joint district level border meeting in Dhubri
resolved to end tension. Both sides urged the student bodies to end
the economic blockade. The joint meeting took place at the Circuit
House in Hatsingimari in Dhubri district. Deputy Commissioners and
Superintendents of Police of the five districts of the Garo Hills
region attended the meeting with their counterpart of Dhubri district.

BJP state unit President Sarbananda Sonowal said that Dispur’s failure
to implement the Assam Accord is an insult to former Prime Minister
Rajiv Gandhi.
Talking to reporters in Dibrugarh, Sonowal said that even after 28
years of signing of the Accord by the All Assam Students Union, the
state and the union government all clauses were yet to implemented,
thereby insulting Gandhi. The clauses for detection of illegal
foreigners and deletion of their names from voters list and their
deportation were not fulfilled yet.
Flood situation turns grim as surging waters engulfed 30 more villages
in Bongaingaon district. Over 60 houses have been washed in Morigaon
rendering scores of people homeless. The river Bramhaputra is still
flowing above the danger level. Massive erosion also took place in
Bhuragaon and Mayong revenue circles of the district. Over 100
villages in Dhemaji, Chirang, Jorhat, Lakhimpur and Sivasagar
districts were under flood.
The 12-hours Assam bandh called by All Adivasi Students Association of
Assam (AASAA) beginning from 5 am demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST)
status to the Adivasis evoked mixed response in Kokrajhar on Friday.
During the bandh period the main market and Mandang bazaar remained
open as usual. All financial institutions like bank, shop,some
government offices remained closed and road communications were

Wild elephants trampled to death a boy and injured and a girl in Baska
district on Friday.
The tragic incident took place took place at Orungajuli village under
Nagrijuli police station when a herd of wild elephants entered their
village. As the local residents tried to chase away the herd, the
animals turned violent. The deceased was identified as Shiva Magar.
Both were taken to a local hospital where Shiva succumbed to his

Two hardcore NDFB leaders were killed at an encounter with security forces in Sonitpur district of Assam on Thursday. One of the duo were believed to the involved in the sensational killing of tea garden owner Adilur Rahman.The encounter took place in the wee hours at Tawabari area in Rangapara during a combing operation. The Bodo insurgent duo died on the spot. Police further recovered a pistol from their possession.
