Properties worth twelve lakhs were reduced to ashes when a massive fire gutted at least four shops in Kojrajhar on Monday.
The fire broke out at a tea shop in Balajan Tinali Bazar in the wee hours which spread to the adjacent shops. The situation aggravated LPG cylinders exploded under the impact of the fire. Two fire tenders from Kokrajhar took three hours to douse the flames.
The shop owners have alleged it to be a handiwork of the miscreants. Jami Ray, whose tea stall ashes in fire said that the fire had totally charred his shop.
'I am now helpless, hos to lead my family, tea stall was his only lifeline', he said.
Traders said that massive fire damaged whole properties of the four shops. They demanded compensation to the fire affected traders.
