Paving way to work women's safety and protection, Kokrajhar district Police inaugurated a women help desk at Bagribari PS and Rupshi outpost on Sunday in Kokrajhar district. The help desk was inaugurated by Anurag Agarwal, BTAD (IGP) in the presence of Rajen Singh, SP Kokrajhar.
The help desk will address Women and Child related problems,which are included poviding counselling, emotional support and legal help to the women and child victims,creating positive perception about Police among the citizens and sensitize public about crime against women and child.
Any complaint involving woman or child victim will first go through the women help desk. Woman/child victim if she/he comes to the police station, she/he will be counselled by the woman police. If required child/woman victims will be counselled at their place of residence/place of stay in presence of their parents/guardians. Woman police at help desk will try to understand their problems/grievances and suggest necessary legal help.
If woman victim requires immediate relief/ rescue in case of harassment by the husband or relative, Woman police will help her to approach judiciary by filing the DIR (Domestic Incidence Report) through a Protection Officer of the district under ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act- 2008’.
