India got its first woman President. Pratibha Patil won the Presidential elctions by 3,06,810 votes. Pratibha Patil, the UPA candidate defeated her rival Bhairon Singh Shekhawat who was backed by the NDA.There was some cross voting by BJP dissidents in Gujrat and Madhya Pradesh.
Bhairon Shingh Shekhawat has resigned from the position of Vive President as well
In Assam, Pratibha Patil has secured 92 votes while Shekhawat has secured 20 votes.

At this movement UPA-Left nominee Pratibha Patil has elected as President of India defeated NDA backed Independent candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat by over three lakh votes.She received 638,116 votes while Shekhawat got 331,306 votes.today made history by getting elected as the first woman President of the country. The Reliance Communications has received government nod to provide CDMA services under the existing Unified Access Service Licences in the entire north eastern region. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has granted in-principle permission to its subsidiary Reliance Telecom in this regard, RComm said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. The RTL would offer CDMA services also in addition to its existing GSM services in Assam and Northeast service areas.
The Rongiya police saved the people from a major tragedy while they recovered a powerful Programmed Timed device from near a hotel on the National Highway on Tuesday evening. The ASDC has rushed an eight member delegation to New Delhi on Tuesday to reiterate the demand for an autonomous state covering both North Cachar and Karbi Anglong districts. Again poaching has rocked the Kaziranga National Park on Monday night. The body of the rhino was spotted at the Bagori range on Tuesday morning. The poachers took away the horn after killing the rhino with 303 rifles. The incident took place hardly 24 hours after forest minister Rockybul Hussain suggested a slew of measures to stop poaching in the state’s sanctuaries. The park authority restricted the entry of media people who rushed to the sport when the message was spreading like wildfire. This is the fifth rhino to be poached this year itself.
